Will Toynbee switch allegiance to the LibDems?

Polly Toynbee interviewed Nick Clegg after the election results. It was a heated interview and one of the most interesting and informative I’ve seen for a while.

It struck me that Toynbee was disillusioned with Brown’s leadership and interestingly, was looking for a new home for disgruntled Labour supporters in the LibDem party. Clegg’s replies were refreshingly detailed and frank, delivered with passion and conviction.

Has Polly decided to switch to the LibDems?

Toynbee never asked him about his stance on the Lisbon Treaty, choosing to go on and on about PR instead. Does anybody care about PR? It's not really a policy as such, but the fact that we have so many foreign migrant workers over here IS!
I'll never vote for Clegg despite his views our civil liberties being "eroded" until he decides to support the need for a referendum over Europe.

I agree entirely. Brown will never grant a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty, which is one of the reasons he wants to cling onto power – until the treaty is ratified by other member countries.

It's interesting, though, that europhile Labour supporters might switch their allegiance to the LibDems.

Does anyone actually want Toynbee ? The strident voice of unreason over the years ? I know politics makes for strange bed-fellows, but……

Clegg is never going to vote for a referendum, he once was an MEP, all Liberal policy favours closer integration with Europe.

Toynbee has been a fierce critic of Richard Littlejohn over the years and when they appear on Question Time together it's always gritty stuff.
The interview she did with Clegg wasn't that probing even though she probably thought it was. Let me at Clegg and I'll winkle the truth out of him and expose him for the poodle he is.
